Glowy Ghosts

This 5x7 image was made as part of a series of original pieces by me exploring a colorful world populated by friendly flying spirits! I created it with markers, ink, and colored pencil.

I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone and play with drawing glowing materials, which I had always found daunting. Once I started chipping away at it I found it to be a pleasure! I love the bright, intense colors here.

I also wanted to introduce some lore to the world I created. This pool is a source of life for the ghost spirits. So the ghosts that live here tend to it and draw their energy from it. It's also where new spirits are made. The young girl in the drawing is led to this pool by her ghost companion, and is awestruck by its beauty.

One charming thing about this image is that children are especially drawn to it. They love the colors and also want to know about what's happening in the picture. I've always enjoyed telling them about it!
