The Deep Blue Lake

This 5x7 piece was made with watercolor paint, ink, and markers. I love the contrast in this piece as well as its vibrant color. This is part of a series of illustrations I made depicting a colorful world populated by friendly ghosts. This is my personal favorite of the bunch--I love the composition of this one and find the landscape to be particularly enticing.

One of the other pieces features an identical ghost with an inverted color palette, so this was made as a partner piece to that. I was exploring this little world I had created and wanted to depict diversity and balance by introducing this white spirit. I like to imagine them all coexisting in this world together.

What I like most about this piece is the beauty of its simplicity. It's a pleasant little picture!
